a warm calm Belgian summer

As the second warmest June ever recorded in Europe is finally coming to an end, I am still strolling mindlessly through the streets of Belgium. The summer has always been the season of sunny holidays and joyous travel. Unfortunately for me, fate has it that I’m not allowed to go on a holiday this time. This is probably the greatest reason why I can’t wait to become independent. Not having to rely on a boss to decide when or where to go - I yearn for this kind of freedom.

Nethertheless, I decided to make the best of it. In this post, I will shares the pictures I took this summer, albeit in rather mundane locations.

Spring in Limburg

Limbourg is the flower garden of our country. Every spring, orchards blossom to cover the golden-green meadows in pinkish snow. These flowers attract thousands of tourists hiking and biking merrily during the sunny weekends.

Its a true spectacle for photographers as well, as the grim winter finally yields.

I’ve always loved working and living there. This region just feels peaceful and slow paced.

These photos were shot on Hasselblad 500CM and Ektachrome 100, developed at home using Bellini’s E6 chemicals.

Castle of Heks, Limbourg.

Shooting a bachelorette party

This was my first commissioned photo shoot for anything “wedding” related. Obviously quite challenging (which I love). I took the time to take two photos with the old Nagaoka Seisakusho 4x5 (Ektachrome 100 and Fomapan 400, developed at home)

Hallerbos, obviously

This forest, located on the south-western border of Brussels, is one of the greatest sights of Belgium during springtime. every year, millions of hyacinths blossom to cover the ground in beautiful purple hues. Its definitely worth a visit early in the morning to enjoy this beautiful misty light.

Brussels

As I live and work in Brussels, most of my images stem from this city. Here’s a small gallery of several of my favourites.
