Silberra Films

The origin of this brand is rather interesting. It was founded in Saint Petersburg by two Russian photographers who struggled to find the necessary film and chemicals to continue shooting photos. In 2017 they launched their first film emulsion.

For such a young company, they offer an amazing variety of black and white as well as colour films.

Silberra U400

Thanks to its high contrast and special grain (T-grain and classic grain), this film produces a beautiful retro look.

The film base is rather thin (80µm polyester) so handling it can be tricky. It is excellent for enlargements thanks to this.

Because this is a superpanchromatic black and white film, it is very sensitive to red - I noticed that the human skin becomes very white because of this and therefore not always usable.

Silberra U200

Similar to the U400, except for its speed.
